Bato Kapid in Guimaras

Bato Kapid is a private islet owned by Domingo Gacho and his family. It is located at Guimaras. You have to take a small boat to get there. Before going there. you have to ask permission on its owner which one of the children of Domingo Gacho. Contact them first so you can negotiate on the schedule and prices of everything. Since my family is a close relative of Domingo Gacho family, we went there only paying the boat price.

You can stay there with your family and friends for party events, important celebrations or you can have your honeymoon there with your partner alone without electricity. Though they have a supply of water there but it is only limited. So this place is good for those who wanted to be alone with their friends and family without internet or gadget but don't worry they have signal there at least so you can contact the boat to catch you up if there is something emergency happened.

They have a one bedroom for those who want to stay overnight and a living area look where you can feel the touch of the wind while looking at the sea around you. They also have comfort room. One for bath and one for toilet. I advice you to bring a gallon of mineral water with you together with the food. Anyway, you can also cook there because they have a cooking place there for grilled foods.

They have 2 dining are there. The first one is near the cooking area where you can have a view of the sea while eating. The second one is on the center below where you can have you buffet. There are so many place there where you can have your photo session. The first one is on the top of the Islet where you can see 360 degrees that you are in the middle of the sea. You can put your tents there if you'll have your overnight stay with your friends and watch the stars above you while lying.

The second one is on the veranda part of the living area like of the cottage where you can have the view of the pathway to the the other cottage near the area. The pathway there starts to be visible during 3pm while it is not visible during morning.

As you can see the cottage across is still on building period. You can swim there or walk going there. Wile walking you can see starfish on the walkway so be careful because you may step on them. You can have a closer look with them, hold them but not to take them home. You can have your small shells harvest there if you want.

The third one can be on the staircase which located on the side of the islet. It is a long staircase from the rocky part bottom of the islet to the upper center of the area. While walking there, you can see the clear water beside you and the beautiful view surrounding you.

The area is rocky but there are some parts also that do not have any rock but only sand. Since it is a private islet, you can have the privacy to swim on the area. The sea level is just low that even a four years old could enjoy swimming by himself.

We did not stay for overnight there so we left the islet during sunset witnessing the beautiful sunset there.

How to get there:

First of all, contact Edith G. Malayo so that you can reserve a day and a boat for the islet and how much it will cost you.

1. If you were from Manila or away from Ilo-Ilo City, you have to ride a plane getting you to Ilo-Ilo Airport. From there, ride a taxi that will bring you to Ortiz Wharf which is the ferry ticketing station. The travel time in taxi is 1 hour if there is no traffic. You can pay either by metro or by negotiation. We paid by metro which costs us 350 to 400 since the new location of the airport is farther from the old one.

2. From Ortiz, ride a boat going to Jordan Guimaras Jetty Port. The travel time is 30 minutes. 20 pesos per head.

3. From Jordan Jetty Port, there are tricycle drivers there waiting for you. Ask them to bring you to Cabalagnan Public Market.

4. You can already meet Ms. Edith Malayo there and ride a boat there that will bring you to the island.
